PKUES is a private, coed, day and boarding school. It offers a Chinese National Curriculum Division, as we as a separate IB International Division.
Peking University Experimental School (Jiaxing) - PKUES, co-founded by Beida Jade Bird Education Group and Jiaxing Economic Development Zone authorities.
The School is located in the Jiaxing International Business District, in the heart of Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou plain within the Yangtze River Delta. It covers an area of about 150 acres, with a total construction area of about 12 million square meters, after the completion it can accommodate nearly 3000 students, is expected to be officially opened in September 2016.

6、 What is PKUES’ curriculum?
Peking University Experimental School curriculum are designed by curriculum research and development teams that consist of experts from Peking University, National Institute Of Education Sciences and domestic and foreign educators, with full understanding of our educational philosophy and objectives. The IB philosophy, mission and learner’s profile are fully integrated into the curriculum.
National Curriculum: three levels
The first level, Basic Curriculum: amounts to 65% - 75% of the total curriculum. The overall development of all students, participating in the full range of primary education. This includes Mandarin, Mathematics, English, Morals, Science, History and Society, Art, Music and Sport, etc.
Second level, School-Based Curriculum: amounts to 20%- 25% of the total. Including (Chinese) Traditional Culture, Classic Readings, Drama, STEM, Swimming, Interdisciplinary Thematic Studies, Study Trips, etc.. The School-Based curriculum is the extension and development of the Basic Curriculum. It highlights the convergence of the curricula and places emphasis on diversity and individualization.
Third level, Electives Curriculum, amounts to 5% - 10% in total, which includs Yuan Pei courses, Advanced Laboratory courses, Community Activities, etc.. It lays the foundation for students to encourage their development of talent and to achieve a high level of culture and personal characteristics.
International School Curriculum:
English-Instructed courses amount to 60% - 70% of the total, Chinese-Instructed courses amount to the other 30% - 40% .

7、 What special features and advantages does PKUES have?
PKUES focuses on a unique educational experience with strong humanistic fature, which including the following eight aspects:
These eight aspects are a combination of historic Chinese educational principles, infused with modern Chinese educational principles, to form a holistic educational programme.
First, Chinese traditional culture education. Including subjects such as Sinology reading, reading classics, essay writing, film appreciation, traditional culture and Chinese National Curriculum combined courses, to introduce students to be immersed with deep Chinese traditional culture understanding and literacy.
Second, Cross-cultural understanding and communication. By encouraging students to take on personalized English courses and international study trips/programs, we aimed at improving students' English reading and expressing ability, broadening their cultural vision, expanding multicultural understanding, cultivating cross-cultural consciousness, enabling students to acquire a global view and international mindset.
Third, PKU Red Boat (Morals) Course. A merged course combines the spirit of Peking University and Jiaxing Red Boat culture. It is a course independently developed by PKUES. This course will enhance the students personal indentity, and their national identity, developing a sense of national and personal pride.
Fourth, Transdisplinary curriculum and teaching. Students are encouraged to inquiry, design, research independently, under the guidance of teachers. The Themes of subjects, subject groups and their practice activities develop curiosity and a new perception through comprehensive knowledge, learning and skill training. This process also helps to develop an understanding of the concepts, to form a positive learning attitudes, to encourage active exploration and innovative thinking, to stimulate the sense of responsibility, set the standards for future scholars.
Fifth, STEM core literacy. Combined with technology, engineering and mathematics science fields, the course pays much attention to subject knowledge, integration, and related logical thinking. This subject has a large impact within society, as it integrates parents, society, government, business, media, social celebrities, engineers and scientists. It is all encompassing in developing students' scientific and technological literacy and innovation skills.
Sixth, Life is education. Our philosophy is one, which encourages that learning never ends, but is a life long endeaver. The school adheres to the idea of Mr. Tao Xingzhi’s "Life is education", which combines education with real life, promotes the idea that education starts from details in daily life, such as basic life skills, interpersonal skills and self-management abilities.
Seventh, Sport and Health. We offer programs to develop students physical health and fitness, and we encourage through these activities, the developemt of good team play, firendly competition and personal character development. Some of the sports we offer includes different team sports, water sports, defensive skills, endurance exercises and other PE activities. We also offer individulized sport.
Eighth, Artistic talents and Aesthetics. Designed around student's own interests, a variety of subjects are available. Some of these inlude vocal music, art, musical instruments, calligraphy, dance, design and drama. Each student is encouraged to develop at least one of these extra-curricula skills. As the Head of School at Peking University Experimental School (Jiaxing), Dr. Rockey (Dr. Rockey du Randt) has 30 years international school experience, having held senior leadership positions at top IB World Schools, around the world. Dr Rockey is also an IB School Accreditation Member, a CIS Accreditation Member, an examiner of the IBDP Sciences, and a member of the IB Curriculum Development team, which meets in the The Hague at its global headquarters, on a regular basis. After many years in Education Dr Rockey, has assisted many students to achieve excellent IBDP test scores and many of his students have gone on to top universities including Harvard University, Yale, Oxford University, University of Cambridge, The London School of Economics, University of St Andrews, to name but a few. Associate Professor with previous scholarlistic study in UK
Yan YANG (Shirley) graduated from Yangzhou University (YZU) in 1982. She taught English for ten years at high school. She was a visiting scholar in Heriot Watt University in Scotland UK and an exchange teacher in Finland. She was the director of International Office and Dean of School of International Education and Exchange in Changzhou University (CCZU). She was also the co-founding principal of a pure British international boarding school in Jiangsu, China. She founded 6 international joint degree pilot programs approved by MoE, China. Her expertise in running schools with international programs and schools was well-known among authorities in the city and Jiangsu Education Committee. She joined Peking University Experimental School (Jiaxing) in December 2015.

The dormitory is equipped with four-student rooms, six-student rooms, supervision rooms, guard rooms, a total of 400 rooms.
