Library Expectations for Students — 图书馆须知
Everyone is expected to quietly enter the library and use soft voices. The library is always about sharing and caring for the resources and the peace and quiet with your classmates, teachers and the library staff.
A duration of 15 days is the time limit for borrowing a library book. If a student or a teacher needs to Renew the book, they should visit the library and request the library staff to renew and update their renewal time on the library system. The library book can be renewed only once.
Every borrower has the responsibility of taking care and returning their library books on the due date.
There is no fine if you return the book late, but the users will not be allowed to borrow any other book until the overdue book is returned.
Overdue notices should be taken seriously. If the overdue book is not returned in spite of the 2nd or 3rd notice, it will be assumed as lost or damaged and the borrower will be charged for that book. The cost of the book is the one that is mentioned in the library records plus 15% of the basic cost to cover the processing cost of the books.
[ A book is considered damaged when the borrower writes, scribbles, draws, or puts highlights, folds the pages, stains the book from food, drink or ink that is visible or when the pages get damaged due to water or liquids or when the cover or pages of the book are damaged, torn or cut out with blades or scissors.]
Books borrowed from the library should not be passed on to the classmate or friends or teachers (because if they (friends, classmates or teachers) lose or damage the library book, remember library system continues to have the name of the borrower and hence the borrower will be expected to pay for the book or replace the same book).
There is a procedure to handle the lost/damaged books. The borrower has to declare to the library staff that they have lost or damaged the book. The Library staff will provide a form which gives all the details of the book. Once this form is signed by the borrower, the cost for the books is to be deposited to the finance department.
Since the library does not deal with the money, Homeroom teachers, help to complete this process.
Alternatively, the borrowers can replace the book, by buying the same title in the same format (softcover or hardcover).
Library Resources should be handled with care.
Verbal requests are not entertained.
If a Student is about to leave the school after graduation or before graduation, s/he has the responsibility to take clearance from the library.
How to Care for Books?— 如何保管图书？
Handle all books with Care and Respect. Make sure your hands are clean when you pick up a book to read;
Drawing, writing, scribbling or highlighting on the books damage the book and is unacceptable.
Always use a bookmark to mark a page and never fold them; turn the pages gently;
Never fold the book, or leave an open book facing down on the desk, it breaks the spine of the book;
Protect your books keep them away from rain, dust, food, drinks, pets and toddlers or siblings;
At home designate a place for your library books, when you are not reading them - this way you cannot misplace them; and Avoid carrying your library books while traveling.
Please get some bookmarks from your library.
We look forward to your visit!
